Interior Modern Design For Your Home

By Editor

If you’d like to give your home a fresh new look that’s up to date with the times, embracing the modern design style is clearly the way to go. With a clean aesthetic that’s mostly utilitarian in approach, the quintessential modern look will envelope your home in a sleek atmosphere that is sure to impress. With clean lines and plenty of open space, you’re also likely to find yourself more at peace than ever before. In order to help you pull this aesthetic off seamlessly, make sure you utilize the following tenants of interior modern design:

There isn’t one sole material that screams “modern” over any other; the goal here is more about utilizing the right ones in tandem. Stainless steel for lamps and furniture support, wood for furniture bodies and paneling, and a combination of glass and plastic for general surfaces and decor are the most common. You’ll have a bit of wriggle room for personal taste as long as your chosen materials are smooth, opaque, and matte in finish however.

2 – Form And Shape

The basic forms and shapes of your furniture and decor are perhaps the most important elements at play when it comes to modern interiors. Clean lines and plenty of right angles are the order of the day, especially among all major pieces of furniture. You can add just a bit of curvature for visual flair in your lamps and cushions however. (Just be sure to keep them subtle!)

3 – Decor

To best fit the nature of this design style, you’ll need to use a minimalist approach. Start off by only including what you absolutely need. You can then populate the remainder of the room with a small number of paintings, picture frames, or other decor. Despite the geometric focus of modern design, you should feel free to play with asymmetrical arrangements.

4 – Color

In general, there aren’t a lot of bright or primary colors used in modern interiors. Most of the warmth will come from your natural wood tones. Everything else will generally be cast in varying degrees or black, grey, and white. If you do introduce any other colors outside of that basic range, make sure they’re as muted as possible. Simple planters, flower arrangements, and minimalist or abstract artwork are among the best means of introducing color without going overboard.

By relying on those basic guidelines for each of your rooms, you can easily incorporate interior modern design into your home. In general, most people that take on this style after renovating are immensely pleased with the results. The only potential reservations are over comfort, but the idea that this type of interior is purely “form over function” is completely misguided.

Provided you chose the best possible materials for your furniture, you should feel perfectly cozy at all times. Best of all, you’ll have the distinct pleasure of knowing that you didn’t have to sacrifice style in order to do so!
